ARIA
stabilized at 1 076 feet of drawdown The step test was restarted on March 31, 2004 with the
fourth step at an extraction rate of approximately 3 0 gpm This pumping rate was maintained
for 53 minutes until the water table stabilized at 2 192 feet of drawdown A fifth step was
performed at an extraction rate of approximately 4 0 gpm This pumping rate was maintained for
20 minutes and produced approximately 2 833 feet of drawdown A sixth step was performed at
an extraction rate of 6 0 gpm This pumping rate was maintained for 547 minutes and produced a
maximum drawdown of 4 02 feet
The pump was set to operate at this final extraction rate overnight, but at around 8 00 PM
pumping stopped for unknown reasons On the morning of April 1, 2004,the pump was restarted
and was operated for approximately 67 minutes A drawdown of 3 73 feet was achieved The
pump was shutdown and the water level recovery was monitored for 80% water column
recovery, which occurred in less than a minute after pump shutdown
5-1-85 Groundwater Samples The initial groundwater sample collected from 5-1-85 on March
30, 2004 contained 1 1 ppb MTBE, 3,700 ppb TPHg, 66 ppb benzene, and 22 ppb 1,2-DCA The
subsequent groundwater sample collected from 5-1-85 on April 1, 2004 contained no MTBE,
9,100 ppb TPHg, 210 ppb benzene, and 48 ppb 1,2-DCA The certified analytical reports are
provided as Appendix H
Well S-1 Step Discharge and Constant Rate Testing On April 1-8, 2004, Cambria conducted a
step discharge test followed by a constant rate test on well S-1 Groundwater was extracted
using a 2-mch diameter Grundfos electric submersible pump
The following parameters were monitored during each step duration, flow rate, extracted
groundwater volume, and drawdown A totalizing flow meter was used to monitor the flow rate
and number of gallons pumped during the tests Pressure head measurements were collected
from well S-1, S-3, and S-4, using MmiTrollTM pressure transducers Water levels were also
checked manually with an electronic water level indicator from these and other wells
Samples were collected periodically from the extracted groundwater stream dunng the test and
retained in vials containing hydrochloric acid preservative with no head space These samples
were labeled, entered onto a chain-of-custody record, and placed into a cooler with ice for
transport to a state of California certified laboratory for analyses The samples were analyzed for
TPHg, BTEX,MTBE, and 1,2-DCA by EPA Method 8260B
0797 7
