0
CAMBRIA
Site Investigation Five CPT borings (SB-7 through SB-11) are proposed as shown on
Figure 2 A Cambria geologist will supervise the drilling, and encountered soils will be logged
continuously using electronic CPT technology Groundwater samples will be collected from
these borings at 60, 72, 82, and 95 fbg, which are the same depths where groundwater samples
were collected from boring SB-4
Soil samples will be collected from boring SB-8 at 10-foot intervals down to 80 fbg to assess
the lateral extent of petroleum hydrocarbons in soil northwest of the northern fuel dispenser
Soil sampling will be terminated at 80 fbg since this it the depth where non-impacted soil was
encountered in boring SB-4 If field evidence suggests petroleum hydrocarbons are present at
80 fbg or deeper, the boring will be drilled deeper and additional soil sampling will be
performed
A Cambria geologist will supervise the drilling and describe encountered soils using the Unified
Soil Classification System and Munsell Soil Color Charts Soil samples will be collected at
10-foot intervals for soil description, possible chemical analysis, and organic vapor screening
with a photo-ionization detector (PID)
• Soil samples will be retained in stainless steel or brass sample tubes and will be covered on
both ends with Teflon sheets and plastic end caps Soil samples will be labeled, entered onto a
chain-of-custody record and placed into a cooler with ice for transport to a State of
California certified laboratory for analyses
The scope of work described in this work plan will be performed under the supervision of a
registered geologist
Groundwater Sampling Groundwater samples will be collected from the CPT borings using
CPT groundwater sampling equipment The groundwater samples will be placed in approved
groundwater sample containers and submitted to a State of California certified laboratory for
analyses
Chemical Analyses Groundwater samples and selected soil samples will be analyzed for
TPH9, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes by EPA Method 8020 Groundwater
samples and selected soil samples will also be analyzed for MTBE, ethanol, tertiary amyl
methyl ether, ethyl tertiary butyl ether, tertiary butyl alcohol, di-isopropyl ether,
1,2-dichloroethane, and ethylene dibromide by EPA Method 8260
0797
