Environmental Standard Procedure
Page 5
3.3.4.6. T6 (30% Sodium Hydroxide Storage Tank) — 540 gal double contained
HDPE tank placed above grade on an epoxy coated double contained
concrete slab that provides tertiary containment. 30% Sodium Hydroxide
solution from T6 is automatically pumped to T3, T4 or T5 via metering
pump to neutralize any transferred process waste solution.
3.3.4.7. T7 (36% Sulfuric Acid Storage Tank) — 540 gal double contained HDPE
tank placed above grade on an epoxy coated double contained concrete
slab that provides tertiary containment. 30% Sodium Hydroxide solution
from T6 is automatically pumped to T3, T4 or T5 via metering pump to
neutralize any transferred process waste solution.
3.3.4.8. TS (Non-RCRA Hazardous Waste Storage Tank) -- 500 gal double
contained HDPE tank placed above grade on an epoxy coated double
contained concrete slab that provides tertiary containment. Hazardous
waste is pumped into the tank via overhead schedule 80 piping. The
waste is disposed offsite via hazardous waste manifest.
3.3.4.9. T9 (Non-RCRA Hazardous Waste Storage Tank) — 500 gal double
contained HDPE tank placed above grade on an epoxy coated double
contained concrete slab that provides tertiary containment. Hazardous
waste is pumped into the tank via overhead schedule 80 piping. The waste
is disposed offsite via hazardous waste manifest.
3.3.4.10. T10 (Non-RCRA Hazardous Waste Storage Tank) — 500 gal double
contained HDPE tank placed above grade on an epoxy coated double
contained concrete slab that provides tertiary containment. Hazardous
waste is pumped into the tank via overhead schedule 80 piping. The waste
is disposed offsite via hazardous waste manifest.
3.3.4.11. V1 (Discharge Valve) — neutralized process waste water from T5 is
discharged off-site via V1 in the open position. V1 is closed if there is any
risk of accidental or non-compliant off-site discharge.
3.3.4.12. V2 (Retreatment Valve) — process waste water from T5 is discharged
back to T1 via V2 in the open position if re-treatment is necessary. V2 is
closed unless re-treatment is necessary.
3.3.4.13. V3 (T1 Output Valve) — V3 is open during normal operation and closed
after hours to prevent the output line from losing "prime."
3.3.4.14. V4 (Secondary Containment Valve) — V4 is in the closed position during
normal conditions. In the event of an accidental discharge or rain water
collection within the epoxy coated concrete slab and berm secondary
containment area, V4 in the closed position will ensure that collected
material can be investigated prior to introduction into T1.
3.4. Inspections and Discharge Monitoring Procedure
3.4.1. Discharge Monitoring Procedure
3.4.4.1. Step 1 Identify the waste and estimate the volume to be discharged.
