Environmental Standard Procedure
Page 4
3.3.4.1. T1 (Process Waste Water Collection Tank) — 330 gal double contained
below grade HDPE tank placed within an epoxy coated open top concrete
vault that provides tertiary containment. Waste water and solutions are
introduced into the tank via below ground double walled polypropylene
piping. Process rinse water from the etching and anodizing processes are
continually collected. Hazardous waste (etch, etch rinse, frost, Specialty
Cleaner 740 and Chemco 33S) solutions are collected during occasional
batch discharges. When the collection tank is full it transfers into T2. If T1
was to overfill, there is an alarm that will sound in the etch room.
3.3.4.2. T2 (Process Waste Water Collection Tank) — 330 gal double contained
below grade HDPE tank placed within an epoxy coated open top concrete
vault. Waste water and solutions are introduced into the tank via below
ground double walled polypropylene piping or via above ground schedule
80 PVC piping. Process waste water from the screen cleaning, darkroom
and T1 collection tank are continually collected. Hazardous waste (T1, Zip
Fixer, Zip Developer, and CPS A7 Screen Wash) solutions are collected
during occasional batch discharges. When the collection tank is full it
transfers into T3. If T2 was to overfill, there is an alarm that will sound in
the etch room.
3.3.4.3. T3 (pH Neutralizing Tank) -- 230 gal HDPE tank placed above grade on
an epoxy coated double contained concrete slab. Process waste water
and solutions from the T2 collection tank are continually collected and pH
monitored. The waste water and solutions are introduced via above
ground schedule 80 PVC piping. The tank is continually mixed and pH
monitored. As necessary 30% Sodium Hydroxide from T6 or 36% Sulfuric
Acid from T7 is automatically introduced via metering pump to begin
neutralizing any transferred process waste solution. T3 discharges via an
"overflow" schedule 80 PVC pipe into T4.
3.3.4.4. T4 (pH Neutralizing Tank) — 230 gal HDPE tank placed above grade on
an epoxy coated double contained concrete slab. Process waste water
and solutions from the T3 pH neutralization tank are continually collected
and pH monitored. The waste water and solutions are introduced via
above ground schedule 80 PVC piping. The tank is continually mixed and
pH monitored. As necessary 30% Sodium Hydroxide from T6 or 36%
Sulfuric Acid from T7 is automatically introduced via metering pump to
neutralize any transferred process waste solution. T3 discharges via an
"overflow" schedule 80 PVC pipe into T5.
3.3.4.5. T5 (pH Neutralizing Tank) — 230 gal HDPE tank placed above grade on
an epoxy coated double contained concrete slab. Process waste water
and solutions from the T4 pH neutralization tank are continually collected
and pH monitored.
T5 discharges to the
city of Lodi waste water treatment system through V1 valve via schedule
80 PVC pipe. pH is maintained between 6 and 11. An alarm will sound in
the etch room if T5 pH is at or below 6 or at or above 11.
