. 4 . WORK PLAN
This work plan addr;:sses potential off--site and vertical movement
of groundwater contamination toward the nearby domestic wells.
The proposed work consists of the installation of two on-site
q pin3t dig 3)iSPiitg;ii varl:} bi$&) L IS
the present level sof the aquifer .
These two wells will be 1 .ed at the western and eastern
boundaries of the site, in the directions of potential con-
taminant movement in water under the influence of pumping in
these domestic wells.
4 . 1 SOIL BORING
Two soil borings will be drilled, using a hollow-stem auger ( 10-
inch o.d. ) , at the locations shown in Figure 3. Well casing and
screen will be installed inside the auger at the required depth.
A sand filter, a Bentonite seal, and a cement--Bentonite grout
will be installed around the well screen and casing as roach
section of the auger is gradually removed from t.%e borehole.
All drill pipes, rods, samp]ing, and downhole equipment will he
steam cleaned before drilling. A log of the soil boring will be
recorded by an EA geologist overseeing the drilling operations.
The boring logs will l`ae signed and dated and will contain
detailed geologic information, classified according to thi
Unified Soil Classification System. The drill cuttings and soil
samples will be monitored in the field with an organic vapor
analyzer (photoionization detector or a flame ionization
detector ) for the presence of Lydrocarbons. The moisture content
of the soil samples and the initial and static water levels wil-
be noted on the logs. .
a5t/grso/6-a/tx 6
