r
4 . CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
An investigation and analysis of hydrocarbon contamination be-
neath former Chevron Service Station 9-7780 has shown that risks
to human and environmental health are low. As of August 1987,
ground-water transport had not created levels of contamination
that exceed the Maximum Contaminant Level for benzene in any of
five nearby receptor wells. However, there remains a possibility
that continued transport could cause benzene levels to rise above
the MCL: computer modeling suggests that this could happen at
the nearest well within 3 years of contaminant release.
' Based on the findings of this risk assessment, it is recommended
that four new ground-water monitoring wells ( see Figure 7 ) be
installed and sampled, and their waters be analyzed. Following
this, a remedial action plan should be developed in the near
future.
24
