Soil and
groundwater water samples collected at this site evidence contamination. Further soil
and groundwater investigation at this site will be necessary.
Borings #P6 and#P8 evidenced soil contamination at 40 feet below surface grade (bsg).
Soil samples were not collected below 40 bsg in#P6. The vertical extent of soil
contamination has not been determined near P6. Since soil investigation east of P6 was
not conducted to a depth of 40 feet bsg or below, the lateral extent of soil contamination
has not been determined. Further investigation should be conducted to determine the
vertical and lateral extent of soil contamination at the site.
The groundwater sample collected from P8 evidenced contamination. Monitoring Wells
(MWs) should be constructed at the site to evaluate the groundwater conditions and to
establish the groundwater gradient. MWs should be screened at an interval representative
of the affected groundwater. Groundwater samples should be analyzed quarterly for
Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH) as diesel and TPH as gasoline using EPA Method
8015, Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene and Xylene using EPA Method 8020 and
Oxygenates using EPA Method 8260.
Conduct a complete well survey of domestic, municipal, agricultural, industrial and any
other wells within a 2,000 foot radius of this site. Contact the Department of Water
Resources, municipal water suppliers and nearby industries for well information.
Perform a physical search of the area to identify any wells. Show the locations of all
wells and submit any known construction details of the wells. Identify all sources of
information in the well survey report and clearly depict each well location as they relate
to the above referenced site. A survey should also be conducted to locate any potential
conduits. Discuss conclusions regarding public and environmental health risks as they
relate to the pumping influence of these identified wells and the migration and potential
impact of the contaminant plume.
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
