(AGE) on your behalf for the above-referenced site. Total petroleum
hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) were detected at 800 micrograms per liter (pg/L) in
groundwater samples collected at sixty-five to seventy-five feet below surface grade (bsg) from
cone penetration testing (CPT) boring P-1513. Methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE) continues to be
detected at approximately the California Department of Public Health primary maximum
contaminant level (MCL) of 13 pg/L in groundwater collected quarterly from monitoring well
MW-2, and 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) continues to be detected above the MCL of 0.5 µg/L in
groundwater collected quarterly from monitoring well MW-4. For these reasons, the EHD
conditionally approves the installation of one additional monitoring well (MW-5) at 716 North Oro
Street, as proposed by AGE in Revision to Work Plan Addendum-December 2007, dated March 5,
2008. Instead of the well being screened between approximately forty-five and sixty-five feet bsg,
the EHD directs that MW-5 be installed with a ten-foot screen and include the soil interval from
sixty-five to seventy-three feet bsg to target the sand unit encountered in nearby CPT boring P-1 5B.
Please submit a copy of the access agreement, a well permit application, and permit/inspection fee
of$404.00 to the EHD and complete the fieldwork by March 30, 2009. Notify the EHD at least
one week prior to the scheduled work date.
Analyze groundwater samples collected from MW-5 for TPH-g; total petroleum hydrocarbons
quantified as diesel (TPH-d); benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene, and total xylenes (BTEX); MTBE,
tertiary-butyl alcohol (TBA), di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE), tertiary
amyl methyl ether (TAME), 1,2-dibromoethane (EDB), and 1,2-DCA. Analyze groundwater
collected from the four onsite wells only for TPH-g, BTEX, MTBE, and 1,2-DCA since groundwater
results for TPH-d, TBA, DIPE, ETBE, TAME, and EDB have been reported as "non-detect" since
January 2004 for these wells. Also, the EHD approves a reduction in sampling MWA and MW-3
from quarterly to annually. Continue collecting depth-to-water measurements in all wells during each
quarterly groundwater monitoring event for the purpose of determining the groundwater gradient.
