' Existing Nestle Warehouse
4343 East Freemont Street
' Stockton, California
Project Nos. 2E-940917 and 2G-941101
Page 2
2.0 SITE DESCRIPTION
' The subject site is currently occupied by a 290,000 square foot vacant warehouse facility
which occupies the majority of the subject site. This facility includes two (2) small areas of
offices, located at the extreme southern and northern ends of the building. The area south of
the existing warehouse is developed as Portland Cement concrete and asphaltic concrete
pavements which extend from the structure to the property line on Freemont Street. A small
depressed truck dock area is also located along the southern edge of the building. The area to
the north of the existing structure is paved with Portland Cement concrete pavements and a large
' truck dock area is located along the northern edge of the structure. A small triangular parcel
of land is located further to the north of the Portland Cement concrete pavements and this area
is currently undeveloped. Moderate quantities of uncontrolled fill material appear to have been
' placed in this area previously. The eastern and northern perimeters of the property are bordered
by railroad tracks. Railroad spurs are also located within the interior of the warehouse facility
along the eastern and western building walls. These rail spurs are depressed approximately 4
' feet below the elevation of the interior warehouse floor slab. Overall site topography consists
of relatively level terrain with less than 5 to 6± feet of elevation differential across the main
portion of the site.
' During initial research conducted at the San Joaquin Valley Environmental Health
Department, Giles reviewed a map titled Lines of Equal Depth to Water in Wells, Spring 1989
' published by the San Joaquin County Flood Control. This document indicates that the depth to
groundwater at that time, in the vicinity of the subject site, was 60 to 65 feet below existing
grade. This map further indicates that the regional groundwater gradient is an east/northeast
' direction.
3.0 PROPOSED SCOPE OF WORK
' 3.1 Permits
In accordance with San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health
Division guidelines, Giles has completed the appropriate permit applications for drilling at the
' subject site. These forms include the application for Well/Pump Permit, the Site Mitigation
Acknowledgement/Request for Services form, the General Program File form and the master
file record information form. All of these documents have been attached to this correspondence
as Appendix A. Also included with this correspondence is a copy of the C-57 license registered
to Douglas P. Dayton of Giles Engineering Associates, Inc.
1
