1
Existing Nestle Warehouse
4343 East Freemont Street
' Stockton, California
Project Nos. 2E-940917 and 2G-941101
Page 4
3.2.2 Limited Phase II Environmental Site Assessment
' A total of seven (7) test borings will be drilled as part of the Limited Phase H
Environmental Site Assessment. Soil samples and data recovered from these seven (7) test
borings will also be used for geotechnical purposes. These seven (7) test borings will be drilled
in the following areas.
' Site Area Number of Borings Depth (ft.)
Rail Spur Areas 4 10
North Fill Area 3 10 to 15
' Soil samples would be collected from these test borings using the standard penetration
(SPT) method or the modified California sampler using brass rings and/or stainless steel sleeves.
Soil samples collected with the SPT sampler will be split within 1/2 of the sample stored in a 4
ounce laboratory approved glass jar with a teflon lined lid and remainder of the sample will be
used to fill an 8 ounce clean glass jar with a metal cap approximately 1/2 full for use during a
' PID vapor scan. Soil samples collected with brass or stainless steel sleeves using the California
sampler will be capped and sealed and a portion of these samples will also be placed in a 8
ounce glass jar approximately 1/z full for later use during the PID scan.
' Following completion of the test borings drilled for the Limited Phase H Environmental
Site Assessment, each of the test borings will be backfilled with a cement bentonite grout as
' previously discussed for the geotechnical borings. These borings will also be capped using
concrete and/or soil depending upon their location similar to that for the geotechnical borings.
The proposed locations of the borings drilled for the environmental site assessment are identified
' on the attached Figure 1, Proposed Boring Location Plan. These environmental borings are
identified as Boring Nos. El, E2, etc.
' 3.2.3 Decontamination
All drilling equipment and sampling tools will be decontaminated prior to mobilization
' to the site. The drill rig and augers will be decontaminated using a high pressure steam cleaner.
Sampling tools will be decontaminated on-site using trisodium phosphate soap followed by
' double rinsing and dionized water. Sampling equipment will also be decontaminated between
each sampling event and the augers will be steam cleaned between borings. Where potential
subsurface contamination is identified, wash water will be contained and drummed for on-site
tstorage.
