LStantec
SECOND QUARTER 2008 GROUNDWATER MONITORING REPORT
Discussion and Recommendations
L July 7,2008
L 5.0 Discussion and Recommendations
LGroundwater elevations in Site wells decreased an average of 4.36 feet between February 2008
and May 2008. The groundwater flow direction and gradient based on groundwater elevations
Lmeasured in May 2008 is towards the south at a gradient of 0.0037 ft/ft. Based on data
collected during the four groundwater monitoring events performed to date, groundwater flow
direction beneath the Site is variable. Given the flat potentiometric gradient beneath the area of
Linvestigation, small changes in groundwater elevation and measurement accuracy can
significantly affect the interpreted flow direction.
LDiesel- and gasoline-range petroleum hydrocarbons were initially reported in well MW-1 in May
2007 at a concentration of 850 pg/L and decreased to 150 pg/L in February 2008.. THPd and
TPHg were not detected in well MW-1 above the reporting limit of 50 ug/L in May 2008. TPHd
was reported at a concentration of 98 ug/L in well MW-2 in May 2008, representing the first time
petroleum hydrocarbon constituents have been reported in well MW-2. Stantec recommends an
additional quarterly groundwater monitoring event to evaluate chemical concentration trends in
wells MW-1 and MW-2, and also to further evaluate groundwater flow patterns in the vicinity of
the former ASTs.
L
C
c
is iApg&e\french camp\groundwater monitoring\may 2008 monitoring\gmr rpt_fnl.doc 5.1
