Ogden Environmental Services
Mr. William S. Rickman February 15, 1989
Page 2
As shown on Plate 2, Sample 1 (in the northwest excavation bottom) indicated
137 ppm diesel on the fuel fingerprint analyses. Hydrocarbons were nondetected
in the fuel fingerprint for all other samples. Total volatile hydrocarbons were
detectable at 1.5 and 1.0 ppm in Samples 1 and 13 and were nondetectable in the
remaining twelve samples.
On February 11, 1989, an additional 50 cubic yards of material were exca-
vated from the Sample 1 location and transported to the contaminated material
stockpile. Materials were excavated until there were no trace of organic vapors
using a HNu, PID. The additional excavation depth was about 2 to 3.5 feet, and
the nominal size of the area excavated was about 15 by 30 feet in plan.
A reverification sample (designated Sample IR on Plate 2) was obtained and
submitted for fuel fingerprint laboratory analyses, as was performed on the
previous 14 verification samples. The results were nondetectable and are
included on Plate 2, with the detailed results provided in the appendix.
Copies of all test results (including full QA/QC results with blanks and
spikes) were hand-carried and presented to Mr. Boggs, of the Central Valley
RWQCB, on the morning of February 14, 1989. Photos before, during, and after the
additional excavation (of February 11, 1989) , in the NW bottom of the pit also
were reviewed with Mr. Boggs.
Copies of all test results also were hand-delivered to the San Joaquin Local
Health District office on the morning of February 14, 1989. Several unsuccessful
attempts were made to obtain an appointment to personally present the data to Me,
Diane Hinson.
The following are attached and complete this report:
Plate 1 verification Sample Locations
Plate 2 Verification Sample Test Results
Appendix Laboratory Tests Data with QA/QC and Chain-of-Custody
Documentation
Very truly yours,
MCCLkLLAND CONSULTANTS (WEST) , INC.
Thomas D.
