McClelland engineers
2140 Eastman Avenue, Ventura, California 93003,
(805) 644-5535, Telex: 659241
July 29, 1988
Job No. 0588-1603
Ogden Environmental Services, Inc.
10955 John Jay Hopkins Drive
San Diego, CA 92121
Attention: William S. Rickman
Dewatering Wells
Former Tillie Lewis Foods Cannery
Stockton, California
As part of the overall remedial activities proposed at the former Tillie
Lewis Foods Cannery, McClelland Engineers proposes to construct a series of
dewatering wells and piezometers in the vicinity of the tank area. The inner
perimeter dewatering wells (see Plate 1) will be pumped initially to remove
as much free product, as possible, prior to pumping of the outer perimeter
wells. The outer perimeter dewatering wells will be pumped during the
excavation to facilitate earthwork activities. Discharge water will be
treated onsite with an oil-water separator and conveyed to the local sanitary
sewer pursuant to the City of Stockton, Municipal Utilities Department
regulations. The piezometers will be used to monitor water levels during the
dewatering activities. Details of the Remediation Plan were provided by
Ogden Environmental Services in a report dated May 1988.
McClelland proposes to install approximately 182 dewatering wells (at
6-foot spacing intervals) , and approximately 10 piezometers (see Plate 1 for
locations) . Our services will include the following:
1. Drill well holes for dewatering wells to a depth of about 30 feet
for inner perimeter wells and 30 to 50 feet for outer perimeter
wells; install 4-inch-diameter PVC wells; develop wells to maximize
yield; install jet educator pumps and plumbing connections to the
water treatment unit.
2. Drill well holes for piezometers to depths ranging from about 12
feet to 50 feet below ground surface; install 2-inch-diameter PVC
wells and develop accordingly.
