PUBLIC I 1EALTH SERV jLCES
p}ql ! N O
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY • :
r.
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DIVISION a:
Ernest M. Fujimoto, M. The dispenser area and piping was
not sampled during the tank removal because the dispenser area was located less than 20 feet from the
former tanks ; however, the dispenser and piping was located in the area of the tanks where the samples
collected indicated the highest concentrations, warranting additional investigation.
Also, a map to scale will be necessary prior to final approval of the proposed monitoring well locations.
As we have discussed, the extent of groundwater contamination may be overestimated if the perimeter
wells that define the plume ' s boundaries are located too far from the former tank pit. Without a scaled
map,_Itis_difficult_to_determ inewh eth er-or_notthe-proposed-1 ocati o nsar_e-pl aced-too-far-to-perform-this
initial groundwater investigation.
Please submit an addendum addressing PHS/ EHD's comments along with a drilling permit application and
S89 permit fee. Once PHS / EHD has approved the addendum , the drilling permit will be issued and field
work may then be scheduled. Please contact PHS/ EHD at least two working days, prior to initiating the
field activities, to confirm that a site inspection has been scheduled.
If you have any questions, or wish to schedule a site inspection, please contact me at (209) 468-0337.
Donna Heran , REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Mary Meays, Senior REHS MarMa , REHS
Site Mitigation Unit Supervisor
cc: Elizabeth Thayer, Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board
cc: Jeanna Hudson , Clearwater Group, 520 Third Street, Suite 104, Oakland CA 94607
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
