CLEARWATER
G R O U P
• Environmental Srroces
Near the end of the test, a water sample will be collected from the well The sample will be collected
from the pump discharge lune into laboratory supplied containers The sample will be labeled,
documented an a chain-of-custody form, and placed on ice in a cooler for transport to a DHS-certified
laboratory for analysis The sample will be analyzed for concentrations of TPHg/BTEX/MTBE by EPA
Method 8015M/8020
Step-drawdown test results will allow for selection of appropriately sized groundwater extraction
pumps and treatment technologies
Pilot testing for SVE alone followed by GWE/SVE te_sting.
Following the water pumping step-drawdown test, the groundwater in the dual-phase test well will be
allowed to recharge to the initial or stabilized water level A brief SVE test will be performed oit this
well in order to determine flow, vacuum, and potential hydrocarbon recovery rates without
groundwater level drawdown Following the SVE test and the recording of the data, groundwater
extraction will begin on the remedial well to maintain at least 10 feet of exposed screen The vapor
extraction test will be conducted by applying a vacuum to each well using an electric blower Similar to
the groundwater step-test, applied vacuum and induced flow rates will be adjusted upward starting
with lower vacuums (i a 30 in w c ) Several steps will be performed for each test, and it is
anticipated that each SVE test will proceed for approximately one-half to one hour It is anticipated
that SVE testing will take up to 4 hours to complete
During the test, applied vacuum, flow rates, and temperature will be measured periodically at the
extraction well Throughout each test, vacuums at nearby wells will be recorded in order to determine
potential radius of influence for the remedial well
Extracted air will be treated with a vapor-phase GAC canister, if required, and all appropriate
permits will be obtained from the appropriate agency prior to the start of the test
A vapor sample will be collected in a Tedlar bag at the end of each step test The vapor samples will
be labeled, documented on a chain-of-custody form, and stored in a dark container for transport to a
DHS-certified laboratory for analysis Each vapor sample will be analyzed for concentrations of
TPHg/BTEX/MTBE by EPA Method 8015M/8020
ZB178C Workplan for remedial feasibility testing 9 A!lgust 2001
