r <br /> • 3 0 SCOPE OF WORK . <br /> This work is being performed as part of a site assessment, to, <br /> V4—A-,C—s k 4— Z o0k a r` rb tet] 04' <br /> This work is being performed for quarterly monitoring <br /> This work is being performed as part of the remedial action at the site, and includes. <br /> The workplan discussing detailed field procedures and methods is attached. <br /> 4.0 JOB HAZARD ANALYSIS I SITE CHARACTERIZATION <br /> 41 Chemical Hazards <br /> The hazardous chemicals which may be encountered at the site are listed on Table 1, attached A summary of <br /> relevant chemical,physical and toxicological properties for each chemical hazard are summarized in Appendix A <br /> The controls to limit potential for exposure to chemical hazards are addressed below <br /> o Inhalation of contaminants will be controlled by air monitoring of breathing zones <br /> o Ingestion of contaminants will be controlled by prohibiting eating, drinking, smoking, and chewing while <br /> working In addition,workers shall wash their hands and face before engaging in any of the above activities <br /> . o Absorption of contaminants will be controlled by wearing protective clothing as necessary <br /> o Infection of contaminants will be controlled by wearing work gloves in the work area <br /> 4.1,1 Exposure_Monitoring <br /> The Site Safety Officer shall monitor the ambient air in the work area with an organic vapor photoiomzation meter <br /> All air monitoring data and equipment type and calibration information will be recorded in the field Monitoring <br /> points will include <br /> • Air above open borehole in worker's breathing zone <br /> • Air downwind of the work space <br /> • Air upgradient of the work space <br /> If the organic vapor meter indicates petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations in the area exceed <br /> ppm, the Site Safety Officer shall require personnel in the work area to wear respirators with <br /> organic vapor cartridges <br /> Field personnel shall be cautioned to inform each other of non-visual effects of the presence of toxins on the attached <br /> table <br /> 4 2 Physical Hazards <br /> The potential physical hazards expected at the Job site are addressed below <br /> o The potential for physical injury exists from the operation of moving equipment such as drill rigs, <br /> forklifts and trucks Use of steel toe boots, hard hats, and safety glasses will be required when in the work <br /> area Backup alarms are required on all trucks and forklifts <br /> SSP 2 December 10, 1999 <br />
