Public Notice Ripon Farm see • September 2012
Treatability Study
A pilot scale treatability study will
be conducted at the Site. During
this study, a carbon rich substrate 9¢
will be injected into the shallow g99
groundwater to observe its
effectiveness in reducing the nitrate
concentration in groundwater
beneath the Site. The proposed pilot
scale treatability study will be FEcuae z `'
centered at two locations on the Site,
near Monitoring Well MW-103 and MW-104, and will help to develop a treatment program for the
entire site, which is shown in Figure 2.
The carbon rich substrate is the proprietary product, EHC®-Carbon Only(a product from FMC
Environmental Solutions), which will be injected into the shallow groundwater. The carbon substrate
will stimulate biological activity, which will change nitrate to nitrogen gas. Nitrogen gas comprises
about 80% of the atmosphere we breathe.
Additional information is in the Treatability Study Work Plan, which is available on Geotracker, an
internet information site, or can be provided to you by either of the contacts listed below.
Using Geotracker
To see the Treatability Study Work Plan, or other Ripon Farm Service documents on the internet, go to
http://geotracker.waterboards.ca.gov.
