Mr. Dave Isola • - 2 - 21 June 2012 create reducing conditions, which are favorable to microorganisms that convert nitrate into dinitrogen gas. This EHC addition is proposed to occur in a pilot test to evaluate the effectiveness and extent of the remediation zone. The pilot test is proposed to consist of two injection events. The first injection event will test the radius of influence of the injected substance, the results of which will be used to refine injection spacing in the pilot study. The second injection event will target the area around monitoring wells MW-103 and MW-104, where some of the highest concentrations of nitrogen are found at the facility. The proposed Treatability Study appears to qualify for consideration of permit coverage under General Order R5-2008-0149. Central Valley Water Board staff will review the Notice of Intent and provide Isola and Genesis Engineering with a letter stating what, if any, additional items are needed to complete the application. Central Valley Water Board staff conditionally concur with the Treatability Study, provided that Isola and Genesis Engineering obtain permit coverage under General Order R5-2008-0149 from the Central Valley Water Board Executive Officer.
