Personally, I prefer to go the paper
route for approvals, but I appreciate your flexibility when the desired time schedule precludes a paper transmittal.
California Regional Water Quality Control Board,Central Valley Region (Central Valley Water Board)staff have reviewed
the 4 April 2013 Radius of Influence Assessment Work Plan (ROI Workplan, copy attached) prepared by Genesis
Engineering& Redevelopment for the Ripon Farm Services facility at 938 Frontage Road in Ripon. Central Valley Water
Board staff concur with the work plan as written.
This R01 work plan follows a remediation injection which was conducted in December 2012 in proximity to two
monitoring wells, MW-103 and MW-104. The R01 work plan proposes to determine the lateral extent of the
remediation substance (EHC-c) by advancing multiple direct-push borings to about 45 feet below ground surface
between the injection points and the proximate monitoring well. From the borings, soil cores will be obtained, which
will be visually inspected for indications of remediation substance. Some borings will also provide groundwater
samples,to be analyzed for nitrate and ammonium and other parameters indicating biological degradation,as the
sample size permits.
Pursuant to my 5 April 2013 telephone conversation with Mr.Steve Van der Hoven, all of the borings will occur in the
area between the injection points and the proximate monitoring well, although the particular location and number of
borings may vary slightly from those portrayed on the work plan diagram.
Ripon Farm Service should provide a report of results to Central Valley Water Board staff by 30 July 2013, and may
combine the report of results with a regularly scheduled monitoring report.
If you have any questions, you may contact me as follows:
Amy Terrell
(916)464-4680
Regional Water Quality Control Board
11020 Sun Center Drive Suite 200
Rancho Cordova, CA 95670
aterrell waterboards.ca.aov
1
