GES
GENESIS ENGINEERING&REDEVELOPMENT
Water Level Monitorinz
Periodic water level measurements will be made in extraction wells (AT-1 S, EX-1, EX-2,
EX-3 on Figure 6) to ensure that the water level in each well remains above the top of the
screen to minimize bio-fouling as a result of introducing oxygen into water in the well
casing. Periodic water level measurements will also be made in monitoring wells on-Site to
determine the capture zone around each extraction well. At a minimum, water level
measurement will be collected from:
• MW-5, MW-101, RMW-5S, RMW-7S, RMW-7D, RMW-9, and RMW-11D
(locations shown on Figure 7)
Measurements from other existing monitoring wells or installation of new monitoring wells
will be performed as necessary. In general, monitoring will occur more frequently at the start
of the groundwater extraction system and less frequently over time. The measurement
frequency for extraction and monitoring wells during each of the four operating periods are
shown in the table below.
Period Extraction Wells Monitoring Wells
Pre-Startup Once Once
As needed(high frequency
Startup during start of pumping,at None
least every 15 minutes)
Equilibration 4 times per day Once per day
Full System Operation 1 time per week 1 time per week
Analytical Chemistry Monitoring
Water samples will be periodically collected and analyzed for nitrate and TDS. Most water
samples will be analyzed "in the field". For nitrate, field analysis will be made using an ion
selective electrode in a laboratory set up on-Site. TDS will be calculated by converting
specific conductance measurements made with a field water quality meter. A subset of
samples will also be sent to an off-Site laboratory for nitrate analysis by EPA Method 300
and TDS analysis by EPA Method 160.1. Samples for chemical analysis will be collected
from:
R.F.Land Inc. 8 Of 11
Groundwater Extraction Work Plan
October 2014
