Weber Street, Third Floor
Stockton, California 95202
Subject: Franklin High School, 300 North Gertrude Avenue, Stockton, California
Dear Mr. Wong:
ATC Associates Inc. has prepared this letter on behalf of Stockton Unified School District
(SUSD) in response to San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health
Division(PHS/EHD)correspondence dated July 21, 2000.
PHS/EHD recommended using information from two nearby monitoring wells to evaluate the
extent of dissolved petroleum hydrocarbons at Franklin High School. Marley Cooling Tower
Company installed these monitoring wells near the subject site's former underground storage tank
location as part of their chromium subsurface investigation.
During September 2000, ATC has visited California Department of Water Resources and
PHS/EHD offices to review agency records and obtain well construction details on the two on-
site Marley Cooling Tower Company monitoring wells. However, no construction details for the
wells were included in the documents reviewed by ATC.
ATC is currently in the process of contacting Marley Cooling Tower Company directly to request
well construction details for the two monitoring wells. Following receipt of this information,
ATC will propose a method to further define dissolved petroleum hydrocarbons at the Franklin
High School site.
w.\17292\17292.014eft \9-11-2000 phs*.aoc 1
