Advanced
Geo Environmental, Inc .
16 July 2009
AGE-NC Project No. 95-0184
Ms. Vicki McCartney
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
600 East Main Street
Stockton, CA 95202
Subject: Quarterly Status Update- Second Quarter 2009
LARRY'S AUTO
308 North Grant Street, Stockton, California
Dear Ms. McCartney:
On behalfofMr.Charles Skobrak,Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.has prepared a quarterly status
letter for 308 North Grant Street, Stockton, California. A ground water monitoring event was not
performed during the second quarter, due to the current status the State of California Underground
Storage Tank Cleanup Fund(USTCF), which funds the site's environmental cleanup. As the EHD
may be aware, the USTCF has notified all claimants payments of reimbursement requests are
delayed beyond"historical time periods." In order to elevate the issue of delayed payment by the
USTCF, the State Water Resources Control Board(SWRCB) adopted Resolution No. 2009-0042
which directs sites to reduce ground water sampling to a semi-annual schedule.
A soil vapor extraction(SVE)remediation system operated at the site until 07 February 2009.Due
to excessive costs for remediation, Mr. Skobrak requested a suspension of corrective action(soil
vapor extraction). Based on the SVE sampling event in January 2009 [total petroleum hydrocarbon
as gasoline (TPH) were detected at 2,400 micrograms per liter (µg/1), toluene at 4.3 µg/1, ethyl-
benzene at 7.6µg/1 and xylene at 50µg/1]the operation of the SVE remediation should be evaluated
with the use of carbon adsorption, to reduce costs.
Semi-annual ground water sampling of selected impacted, monitoring wells will be scheduled for
the third quarter. If you have any questions/comments,please contact our office at(209)467-1006.
Sincerely,
Advanced GeoEnvirtonm,ental, Inc.
William R.
