PROCEDURES 4 1 DRILLING AND SAMPLING The following procedures will be performed for the drilling of bonngs and well completion 1 Notify the PHS/EHD 48 hours prior to the commencement of any work 2 Drill six soil bonngs at the site Five bonngs will be drilled using a truck-mounted drill ng equipped with hollow-stem augers Three bonngs (B-6, B-7 and B-8)will be drilled using 8- inch diameter augers, two bonngs(B-9 and B-10)will be drilled using 10-inch augers One boring (B-11)will be advanced using a Geoprobe equipped with 1 125-mch diameter rods Proposed boring locations are depicted on Figure 2 3 Boring B-6 will be drilled in the sidewalk approximately 40 feet north of MW-3 and advanced to a depth of approximately 55 feet Boring B-7 will be placed south of MW-1, dnlled at a 30° angle toward the east and advanced to a vertical depth of approximately 55 feet Boring B-8 will be dnlled in the sidewalk approximately 40 feet east of MW-4 and advanced to a depth of approximately 62 feet 4 Bonng B-9 will be dniled near the former location of Tank A and advanced to a depth of approximately 55 feet Boring B-10 will be placed approximately 20 feet northwest of MW-1, drilled at a 30° angle toward the north and advanced to a depth of approximately 55 feet 5 Boring B-11 will be placed inside the building at 825 Miner Avenue, approximately 65 feet north of MW-4, and advanced to a depth of approximately 55 feet 6 Decontaminate sampling equipment in an Alconox solution and nnse with water prior to each sampling run 7 Collect soil samples at 5-vertical-foot intervals Samples from boring B-6 to B-10 will be collected using a split spoon sampler loaded with three pre-cleaned, 2 by 6-inch brass sleeves Samples from boring B-11 will be collected using a Geoprobe sampler loaded with four precleaned 1 125 by 6-inch brass sleeves 8 Preserve soil samples in the lead sleeve by covering both ends with Teflon or aluminum sheets, capping and sealing with tape The second brass tube will be preserved from the Geoprobe sampler 9 Label and log samples on a chain-of-custody form 10 Store samples in a chilled container and transport to a State-certified laboratory for analysis Selected soil samples will be analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) and volatile aromatics (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes, BTE&X) in accordance with EPA methods 8015m and 8020, respectively Samples from bonngs B-8 and
