PROCEDURES <br /> 4 1 DRILLING AND SAMPLING <br /> The following procedures will be performed for the drilling of bonngs and well completion <br /> 1 Notify the PHS/EHD 48 hours prior to the commencement of any work <br /> 2 Drill six soil bonngs at the site Five bonngs will be drilled using a truck-mounted drill ng <br /> equipped with hollow-stem augers Three bonngs (B-6, B-7 and B-8)will be drilled using 8- <br /> inch diameter augers, two bonngs(B-9 and B-10)will be drilled using 10-inch augers One <br /> boring (B-11)will be advanced using a Geoprobe equipped with 1 125-mch diameter rods <br /> Proposed boring locations are depicted on Figure 2 <br /> 3 Boring B-6 will be drilled in the sidewalk approximately 40 feet north of MW-3 and advanced <br /> to a depth of approximately 55 feet Boring B-7 will be placed south of MW-1, dnlled at a <br /> 30° angle toward the east and advanced to a vertical depth of approximately 55 feet Boring <br /> B-8 will be dnlled in the sidewalk approximately 40 feet east of MW-4 and advanced to a <br /> depth of approximately 62 feet <br /> 4 Bonng B-9 will be dniled near the former location of Tank A and advanced to a depth of <br /> approximately 55 feet Boring B-10 will be placed approximately 20 feet northwest of MW-1, <br /> drilled at a 30° angle toward the north and advanced to a depth of approximately 55 feet <br /> 5 Boring B-11 will be placed inside the building at 825 Miner Avenue, approximately 65 feet <br /> north of MW-4, and advanced to a depth of approximately 55 feet <br /> 6 Decontaminate sampling equipment in an Alconox solution and nnse with water prior to each <br /> sampling run <br /> 7 Collect soil samples at 5-vertical-foot intervals Samples from boring B-6 to B-10 will be <br /> collected using a split spoon sampler loaded with three pre-cleaned, 2 by 6-inch brass sleeves <br /> Samples from boring B-11 will be collected using a Geoprobe sampler loaded with four <br /> precleaned 1 125 by 6-inch brass sleeves <br /> 8 Preserve soil samples in the lead sleeve by covering both ends with Teflon or aluminum <br /> sheets, capping and sealing with tape The second brass tube will be preserved from the <br /> Geoprobe sampler <br /> 9 Label and log samples on a chain-of-custody form <br /> 10 Store samples in a chilled container and transport to a State-certified laboratory for analysis <br /> Selected soil samples will be analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline <br /> (TPH-g) and volatile aromatics (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes, BTE&X) in <br /> accordance with EPA methods 8015m and 8020, respectively Samples from bonngs B-8 and <br />
