• 20 November 1995
AGE-NC Protect No 95-0184
Five soil bonngs (B 1 through B5) were drilled at the site by Geological Audit Services, Inc from
February 11 to 14, 1994 Borings B 1 through B4 were completed as groundwater monitoring wells'
MW-1 through MW-4, respectively Free product was encountered in MW4 and removed TPH as
gasoline and BTE&X were detected in each well, TPH as diesel was detected in MW4
3.0. SCOPE OF WORK
3 1 DRILLING AND SAMPLING
Additional investigation is required to determine the lateral and vertical extent and hydrocarbon
impacted soil and ground water at the site Feasibility testing should also be performed to determine
remedial options for the site
AGE proposes to drill six soil borings at and near 308 North Grant Street Five borings will be dulled
using a truck-mounted, hollow-stem drill ng One boring, inside a building, will be advanced using
a Geoprobe One boring will be completed as ground water monitoring well MW-5 Two borings will
be cluster-completed as vadose zone wells (vapor extraction wells)
3 2 EQUIPMENT DECONTAMINATION
All sampling tools and brass sleeves used for sample collection will be thoroughly rinsed with clean
water after washing with a solution of Alconox All hollow stem augers are steam-cleaned prior to
advancement in each borehole
3 3 LABORATORY ANALYSIS
Selected soil and ground water samples will be analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified
as gasoline and diesel (TPH-g and TPH-d) and volatile aromatics(benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene,
and xylenes BTE&X) in accordance with EPA methods 8015/5030 and 8020/602, respectively
Additionally, several samples will undergo physicochemical and microbiological analysis to determine
bioremediation feasibility
Laboratory reports of both soil and ground water analyses, testing methods, laboratory quality
assurance/quality control (QA/QC) reports, and sample chain-of-custody documentation will be
presented in a report with the findings and recommendations
