i <br /> approximately 20 feet below ground surface (bgs) immediately below the elevator shaft <br /> . to ensure that as much of the contaminated soil was removed as possible <br /> 2.2 Soil Excavation <br /> George Bravante, in his capacity as the State Court Appointed Receiver of the Bridges <br /> Specialty Center, contracted CRC Environmental Management, Inc , who in turn <br /> contracted Capstone Remediation Corporation, of Irvine, California (Contractor's License <br /> Number 685948A-HAZ), to excavate and dispose approximately 17 cubic yards of <br /> hydraulic fluid-contaminated soil at the subject property The removal of contaminated <br /> soil was performed over a twelve-day work period This project was conducted under the <br /> oversight of CRC and the guidance of the SJCPHS <br /> Prior to beginning work, CRC and Capstone coordinated the work schedule with the <br /> SJCPHS <br /> The following agencies were also notified by Capstone <br /> • City of Stockton Building Department <br /> • County of Stockton Fire Department <br /> • Underground Services Alert (Dig Alert) <br /> All field activities were performed in accordance with the Scope of Work and Work Plan <br /> prepared by CRC (Appendix II) and under the direction of Steve Sasson, Senior <br /> Registered Environmental Health Specialist, San Joaquin County Public Health Services <br /> (SJCPHS) <br /> 3.0 LOCATION OF FACILITY <br /> The commercial/retail facility complex is located at 2233 Grand Canal Boulevard, in the City of <br /> Stockton, County of San Joaquin, Califoriva (Appendix I) The facility is a two-story strip center <br /> with shops, restaurants and service vendors The property is located in a commercial/residential <br /> section of northwest Stockton <br /> 4.0 REGIONAL GEOLOGY <br /> The western Stockton area is underlain by a thick fluvial sequence of fluviai sediments consisting <br /> of Quaternary sands, silts, clays and gravels The hydrologic gradient in the area is generally <br /> north-northeast Groundwater encountered at the site is shallower than the regional groundwater <br /> in the area, which is reported to be from 20 to 30 feet deep Groundwater at the site was <br /> encountered at approximately 9 feet below grade surface <br /> CRC Environmental Risk Management Inc Project#3620-001-4 <br /> George Bravante Receiver 2233 Grand Canal Bouievard <br /> January 19 1995 2 Stoekton California <br />
