Polyethylene-coated Tyvek"coveralls for work which presents the potential
for contact with contaminated liquids of wet mud (mud loose enough to
splash or splatter) Examples: Wet dnlling, handling water samples,
decontaminating vehicles, Mote Vinyl rain suits may be substituted for polyethylene coated
Tyvekl, provided decontamination procedures, approved by the HSO arc unplemented before use
Saranex" coveralls to be worn during any PCB wipe/chip sampling and
whenever indicated by the HSO
I '
4.4 LEVEL C PROTECTION
Consists of the addition of the following respiratory protection to the Level
D ensemble:
i
• Full face air purifying respirators with combination HEPA/orgamc
vapor/acid cartridges.
• Eyeglass inserts MUST be provided for those employees who
require prescription eyewear.
4.5 LEVEL B PROTECTION
The wearing of Level B (supplied air respiratory protection) is not
. anticipated to be required in the course of this work. Should conditions
require Level B equipment to perform work operations, an amendment to
this HASP shall be prepared which includes standard operating procedures
and training requirements for the use of this equipment
Two SCBAs shall be available In the event circumstances require entry into
an area where air contamination potential exceeds the criteria for safe use
of Level C respirators. This equipment shall be used only by trained
individuals, and an SCBA-trained and equipped standby must be present
any time an activity takes place which requires the use of an SCBA.
5.0 NOISE
When exposure to sound levels as the field personnel's ear ("A" scale, slow
response) is likely to be in excess of 90 Db for greater than 5 minutes or 85 Db
for greater than 30 minutes, noise protection shall be worn. Thus, a sound level
meter shall be present if these levels are likely to occur
It is anticipated that work within ten (10) feet of a drill ng will be 85 Db or
greater. South level meter readings will be performed whenever obvious noise
sources call for measurements. The SLM readings will be used to determine the
need for mandatory hearing protection Once specific operations/tools are
•
cxc EanazwMai w.t Man.. 4 roc.
