PHSIEHD has prepared the following comments for your
consideration and response.
The report included the results of the July 25, 1996 groundwater sampling event which
indicated residual diesel groundwater contamination. The California Secondary MCL for
Taste and Odor was exceeded for the TPH-diesel contamination detected. Additionally,
groundwater samples were collected during the fourth quarter of 1996 and during the first
quarter of 1997.
PHSIEHD, in correspondence dated September 9, 1996, requested that since dissolved
oxygen concentrations were being monitored, at the time of sampling, that the results be
included in table format. The progress report failed to tabulate the dissolved oxygen
results.
PHSIEHD in correspondence dated September 9, 1996 requested that a closure summary
report be submitted to both PHSIEHD and to the Central Valley Regional Water Quality
Control Board (CVRWQCB). Please proceed with efforts to prepare a closure summary
report. The closure summary report may include the results of the first quarter's analytical
results. Once the closure summary report has been reviewed and deemed complete by
PHSIEHD and the CVRWQCB, PHSIEHD will request that you submit a work plan for the
destruction of monitoring wells, following which no further action fetters will be issued.
If you have any questions regarding the contents of a closure summary report, please do
not hesitate to contact me at (209) 468-0337.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Mary Meays, Senior 491iS Margar Lagorio, RS
Site Mitigation Unit Supervisor J
1
MM1500EGL
cc: Joel Weiss, CVRWQCB
cc: Ailsa S.
