It is
our understanding that sometime in April 1987 a Chevron
gasoline transmission pipeline was broken by a dewatering
well contractor working on a sewer pipeline excavation along
the present north shoulder of Grant Line Road. The pipeline
break occurred approximately 150 to 200 feet west of Corral
Hollow Road. Chevron immediately repaired the break, pumped
contaminated groundwater from the open well and trench and
removed approximately 2 , 000 cubic yards of contaminated
soils along the trench sides. Since that time Chevron has
been evaluating the vertical and lateral extent of ground-
water contamination through their engineering consultant,
WGR of San Rafael . However, Chevron's efforts have not
extended onto the private property of Grant Line Plaza. It
is our understanding that the City of Tracy is requiring an
evaluation of soil contamination, if any, on the private
property prior to approval of the Grant Line Plaza develop-
ment plans.
FINDINGS
On March 22 , 1990, DCM/loyal Engineering drilled seven (7)
subsurface borings at the site . The purpose of these
borings was to:
• Retrieve and test soil samples for purposes of
foundation design and associated geotechnical
recommendations.
• Retrieve and test soil samples for evaluation of
possible on-site gasoline contamination.
1280 Civic Drive, Suite 206 0 Walnut Creek, California 94596 • (415) 945-0677 FAX: (415) 945-1294
