. doza
Mr. M. Phillip Car
Cardoza Properties
May 15, 1990
File: J-2062-1
Page 3
During drilling of borings B-5, B-6 and B-7 , we detected no
evidence of gasoline within the upper 6. 5 feet of soil. Results
of chemical testing indicate that all constituents of gasoline
are below detection limits at boring locations B-5, B-6 and B-7 .
CONCLUSIONS
Based on the physical conditions of the original pipeline break
(i . e. subsurface pipeline break and lateral migration of gasoline
within groundwater via a dewatering well) , results of our sub-
surface drilling and chemical test results by BCA it is our
opinion that:
0 On-site soils have not been contaminated by the
Chevron pipeline break.
• On-site groundwater has been contaminated by the
Chevron pipeline break.
Based on my telephone conversations with Mr. Doug Christian of
Chevron, it is my understanding that Chevron is independently
pursuing a groundwater extraction and clean-up plan for this
area. Such a program should not affect the planned development
of Grant Line Plaza as Chevron's extraction/treatment wells can
be located off-site or if on-site can be located outside of the
building footprints.
I trust this information meets your present needs.
