GEOMATRIX
Mr.Mark Buckon
Chevron Research and Technology Company .
30 November 1994
Page 3
ation, Inc., of Stockton, California. Mr. Mike infuma of EHD was on site to.observe the well
abandonment.
Spectrum used a CME-45 drill rig equipped with 8-inch outside-diameter hollow-stem augers for
the well abandonment. The well monuments and covers for both wells were removed. For monitor-
ing well MW-2, the borehole was drilled to approximately.21 feet below ground surface (bgs) and
the entire well casing was removed. When the augers were removed from the MW-2 borehole, soil
material filled the borehole from about 21 feet bgs to 17 feet bgs. With the approval of Mr.
Infurna, the MW-2 borehole.was filled with cement grout via a tremie tube from about 17.feet bgs
to about 2 feet bgs. The remaining 2-feet of the MW-2 borehole was filled with native soil from
adjacent areas. The top five-feet of monitoring well MW-4 was drilled using a solid. core bit.
Hollow-stem augers were subsequently used to drill well MW-4to its total depth of about 20 feet.
bgs. With-Mr Infurna's approval, the MW-4 borehole was filled with cement grout via the augers
from 20 feet bgs to 3 feet bgs with most of the wellcasing in-place. The upper 3 feet of the bore-
hole was filled with native soil from adjacent areas. Soil cuttings, grout, and well casing pieces from
the former two wells were placed in labeled 55-gallon drums and stored in the fenced area on-site.
Geomatrix is pleased to be of continuing service to Chevron Pipe Line Company. Please call if you
have any questions.
Sincerely yours,
GEOMATRDC CONSULTANTS, INC.
.
Veen hee Foon P. E. IiamVPi es .
