Company Health and Safety Coordinator
AM Name: Ray Kablanow
Phone No: (209) 538-6424
LM
2.0 QUALITY ASSURANCE PROGRAM
+• A methods, procedures and protocol listed in the earlier Geological Technics Inc. documents
will be followed during this next phase of work. More specifically the following will be
incorporated into the established protocol.
2.1 Drilling Equipment
The soil vapor extraction and air recharge wells will be drilled by V&W Drilling of Rio
Vista, California(license# 720904).
2.2 Boring Logs
Detailed logs will be made of the boring. The information noted will include: sample
depths, blow counts, horizons of detectable contamination (detected by field methods), soil
. classification utilizing the Unified Soil Classification System and sediment description
(color, texture, composition, hardness, moisture content, and post-depositional changes that
have occurred in the sediments).
2.3 Soil Sampling
Soil samples for geologic classification and laboratory analyses will be collected at five foot
intervals in a modified California split-spoon from five feet to the total depth of the boring
(45 feet). Up to two soil samples, including a bottom hole sample from the capillary fringe
will be analyzed from the air-recharge borings. Brass sample liners will be sealed with
aluminum foil, capped, taped, labeled and immediately placed on blue ice for transport to the
state certified laboratory used for this project.
2.4 Sample Screening
Because every soil sample collected will not submitted for laboratory analysis, a screening
process will be used to gather additional information through field observation noting
sediment type, especially grain size and clay content; moisture content; visible evidence of
contamination, i.e., color change due to reduction of iron or discoloration from hydrocarbons
and other pollutants, and the readings above background on a organic vapor meter (OVM).
The OVM is a field portable photo ionization detector that uses a 10.0 eV lamp to detect
`W compounds with ionization potential below 10.0 eV (hydrocarbon range).
2.5 Disposal of Soil Boring Cuttings
