S . A . for the <br /> former Chevron Station at the above referenced location <br /> ( figure 1 ) . The purpose of this work plan is to describe the <br /> proposed activities associated with the excavation and <br /> remediation of hydrocarbon impacted soils which have been <br /> identified by previous sampling activities performed during <br /> the removal of gasoline underground storage tanks ( USTs ) . <br /> Four USTs were removed on May 20 , 1994 and observations and <br /> initial sampling results were documented in Touchstone <br /> Developments-' report—dated June 20 , 19 4 . <br /> PROPOSED SCOPE OF WORK <br /> Limited excavation activities will be performed to remove <br /> hydrocarbon impacted soils identified in the former waste <br /> oil tank , sump ( oil /water separator ) , western hoist and <br /> southern pump island areas as shown on figure 2 . <br /> Soils will be excavated from the hydrocarbon impacted areas <br /> located in the vicinity of the above mentioned areas ( figure <br /> 2 ) . Excavation will continue vertically and laterally until <br /> one or more of the following is encountered : <br /> * First occurrence of groundwater ( approximately 8 feet <br /> below grade ) <br /> * Practical limits of excavation equipment <br /> Structural integrity of the sidewalks , buildings and / or <br /> utilities <br />+ P.
