Soil Suitability/ Nitrate Loading Study Irerracon
Soares Property w Escalon, CA
December 13, 2019 in Terracon Project No. NA197095
Survey of San Joaquin County (1992), Delhi loamy sand soils are very deep. For septic system
development, the main limitation of this soil type is rapid permeability.
1.5.1 Soil Boring Locations
Based on a review of the site plan, the proposed leach field will be located west of the residence,
therefore, the percolation test boring (B6) was placed near the anticipated leach field. Soil profile
boring (B3) was placed south of boring B6. Multiple attempts to advance to depth were made
across the site; however, due to refusal of handaugering, B3 and B6 alone were advanced to an
appropriate shallow percolation depth.
Table 4.
Approximate Boring Locations.
Boring Depth(feet) Latitude Longitude
B3 3.25 37.7796 -120.9601
B6 3.16 37.7797 -120.9602
Refer to Appendix A, Exhibit 2 for the approximate boring locations.
1 .5.2 Soil Boring Dimensions
Soil borings B3 and B6 were advanced with a 4-inch diameter hand auger. Boring B3 was
advanced to 3.25 feet bgs and boring B6 was advanced 3.16 feet bgs.
1.5.3 Soil Lithology Observed
The following table presents a log of the soil boring(s).
Table 5.
Summary of Soil Lithology
Boring Depth Interval Soil Type Unified Soil
(feet) Classification
B3 0 to 3.25 Sandy lean clay CL
B6 0 to 3.16 Sandy silt ML
1 .5.4 Discussion of Soil Lithology
The soils encountered in our percolation test boring consisted of sandy clay and sandy silt soils.
Generally speaking, coarse-grained soil has a greater potential for percolation than fine-grained
or cemented soil.
Responsive ■ Resourceful ■ Reliable 9
