The formatting of
this report has been designed to follow, to the greatest degree possible, San Joaquin County,
Environmental Health Department (EHD) Soil Suitability Study Requirements Checklist, dated
September 25, 2007 and Nitrate Loading Study Requirements Checklist, dated July 14, 2003.
1.0 SOIL SUITABILITY STUDY
1.1 Introduction and Development
The Soil Suitability Study (SSS) was conducted to determine whether site soils are suitable for
septic system usage. The study was performed according to the requirements of Section 9-
1105.2(d) of the San Joaquin County Development code. A major element of the field work
included conducting percolation tests that meet absorption rates as specified by EHD. A review
of published soil information, geologic maps, and groundwater information was also performed.
1.1.1 Site Description
The site consists of an approximately 0.81 acre tract of vacant land located at 28484 Lemon
Avenue, Escalon, California, San Joaquin County, California, Assessor Parcel Number (APN)
249-110-23.
According to the San Joaquin County District Viewer the site is zoned AG-40. Based on a review
of the San Joaquin County Community Development Department website, the AG-40 is intended
to preserve agricultural lands for continued agricultural activities.
According to the United States Geological Survey(USGS)Lockeford California Quadrangle dated
1993. The elevation of the site is approximately 132 feet above mean sea level with a topographic
gradient generally sloping towards the west.
Responsive ■ Resourceful ■ Reliable 3
