(Wfightl has prepared the workplan for <br /> assessing the contamination at the above referenced site. As you know,the San Joaquin County <br /> t)L- e6a-A-b04c-Lk�1` S M-u— Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS-EHD) has requested that further <br /> work be done to ascertain the presence and extent of contamination from the former <br /> ANA?'Ji -h ,vj underground storage tanks. <br /> Background <br /> fQ1fv -y440tT1 VTC' Wright removed five underground storage tanks from the site an October 23, 1993. The tanks <br /> included: Tank 1. 9"allon: Tank 2. 300-gallon: Tank 3. 280-gallon: Tank 4, 18-gatlon and <br /> �>St�rSS I rN Z S'1�4. Tank S. 1"allon. Tanks 4 and 5 were part of associated piping for Tanks 2 and 3. The tanks <br /> had apparently been used for gasoline storage. Tank 2 had holes in it and soil contamination was <br /> evident at the time of removal. Approximately 190 cubic yards of contaminated soil was <br /> excavated, and 3225 gallons of groundwater pumped from the excavation. Analytical testing <br /> showed that Caasaline was detected in soil and groundwater samples.Diesel was not detected in <br /> Pt52WL VT- any sample. <br /> Technical Approach <br /> The technical approach to this project is to conduct a horizontal and vertical investigation of the <br /> _ Site and vicinity,and a phased approach is proposed, Soil borings and reconnaissance soil and <br /> zrY-Q ia" rt}-;-s L'Ke groundwater sampling will be done at the locations shown on Figure 1. Consistent with the City <br /> lDfiliA�OcJS G0 t C of Tracy requirements, a traffic control plan will be developed since some of the work will <br /> 7 occur in the street. The groundwater gradient is anticipated to be northerly, and some <br /> investigation in City streets may be necessary. This should provide an assessment of the <br /> approximate location of the dissolved contaminant plume in groundwater. The data collected in <br /> these borings will be used to select locations for installing permanent groundwater monitoring <br /> f � wells.
