S
appropriate analytical monitoring program. The process is particularly suitable
to the clean-up of contaminated solids which reuain after reeoval of spilled or
duoped waste materials.
Pacific Rim Environmental has working relationships with government-
approved laboratories for characterizing wastes and evaluating the speed and
degree of biodegradation. Once the appropriate process is chosen, Pacific Rio
Environmental' s process service can be uobilized in conjunction with a site
clean-up engineering company or contractor. Our services are backed up by the
results of an approved independent laboratory capable of providing priority
pollutant analysis and monitoring the progress of each prograo.
METHODOLOGY, TIMING AND FEES
The preliminary evaluation (Phase I) of the site is essential to determine
the scope of the area to be remediated. A visit to the site to take saaples is
made. An independent laboratory is used to evaluate the saaples. Within one
week a determination is made for the appropriate remediation program. This
determination is the most important part of the analysis portion of the program.
Consistent and accurate evaluations are prerequisite to the successful clean-
up. Once the remediation project has been defined, both qualitatively and
quantitatively, the acceptance of the remediation plan is required by the
appropriate regulatory agency.
Phase II normally involves the injection of monitor wells and infusion of
the product. Sealing off, sniffing, final samples, and the results
(approximately fourteen weeks) from the independent laboratory. Once final
reading levels have fallen below that required in the reaediation plan, the
process is coopleted.
Non-interruption of the business is a mayor factor in determining the
applicability of the bioremediation program. Courteous and professional
personnel are used to minimize the attention to the clean-up program. The capped
wells are certainly better received than the "digging up" of the entire site.
The marvelous advantage of the bioremediation includes the "working underground"
by the culture bacteria during this remediation period.
Forty percent of the quoted cost of the remediation program is due upon
acceptance of the quotation. Another thirty percent is due upon completion of
treatuent with bacteria. The final portion is due upon achieving a satisfactory
report from the laboratory testing.
