The results of
laboratory analysis of water which appeared at a depth of 6 feet in the common trenches for both
sets of tanks at the time of the removal indicate the presence of contamination in groundwater
in both excavations. PHS/EHD staff noted odor in the soil taken from below the 1000 gallon
gas, 6000 gallon gas and 8000 gallon gas UST's at the time of removal. Odor in the soil
indicates the presence of soil contamination. The results of laboratory analysis of soil taken from
below the 1000 gat waste oil UST at the time of removal indicate the presence of soil
contamination.
On September 14, 1988 borings were drilled and completed as monitoring wells. The wells were
installed because of contamination found at the time of removal.
The boring which was completed as MW-3 was sampled from 4 to 4.5 feet below ground
surface. The laboratory results of this soil sample reported in the Kleinfelder report dated
November 30, 1988 indicates the presence of soil contamination.
The wells were developed and a water sample was obtained on September 21, 1988. Laboratory
results reported in the Kleinfelder report dated November 30, 1988 of the water sample obtained
from MW-3 indicates the presence of groundwater contamination.
The depth and location of contamination which was discovered during the UST removal and the
installation of the monitoring wells indicates there may have been a piping leak. There is no
evidence that an investigation of the dispenser area has been conducted.
There is no evidence that any type of remediation or investigation has been conducted since the
Kleinfelder report of November 30, 1988.
,A f)ivi%i9n ot,san Joaquin Cnnntr Health Care Services
