September 13, 1991
Unocal Station No. 6981, Stockton, California
According to information from California Water Service, the total depth of the well is 520
feet below surface grade, and the screened intervals of the well are 195 to 240 feet, 260 to
345 feet, aid 370 to 495 feet below surface grade. City water-supply wells maintained by
the Stockton Municipal Utility District serve the area north of the site.
A City of Stockton Department of Public Works sanitary sewer line is beneath March Lane,
lines 0 at the northwest
south of the site (Plate 2). There are no septic tanks in the area
to Our knowledge.
SITE GEOLOGY
Unocal Service Station No. 6981 is in the Central Valley geomorphic province of California.
which is a northwestward-trending, asymmetric structural trough that has been f lied with
6 to 10 miles of sediment ranging in age from Jurassic to Holocene (Page, 1986). The
topographic surface is nearly flat with a slight westward slope. Based on an extrapolation
of a geological map prepared by Marchand and Atwater(1979),sediments beneath the site
consist of alluvial deposits of tile Modesto Formation, which were deposited by the
Mokciumne River.
SUNINIARY OF WORK
RESNA will perform the following during our investigation at the site:
0 Acquire permits for drilling and inspection of well construction from the San
Joaquin Public Health Services (SJPHS).
0 Observe drilling of three 8-inch soil borings onsite to approximately 75 feet
below surface grade. The borings will be drilled by a licensed well driller.
If a 5-foot thick laver of clay is encountered before drilling to 75 feet below
5
3M32-4W
