SOIL SAMPLE VALIDATION INFORMATION
Calscience Work Number: 08-07-1058
Samples: Al-1-1,A1-1-11), B2-1-1, B1-1-1,D3-1-1 and E-2-1
Collection Date: July 9, 2008
Polynuclear Aromatic Hydrocarbons—EPA Method 8310
Holding Times
Soil samples have a 14-day analysis holding time requirement. All samples were
analyzed within this time period.
Blanks
The method blank was analyzed and was contaminate free.
Sensitivity
The target Reporting Limit for PAH analyses in the samples was achieved except for
samples Al-1-1, E2-1-1, and B1-1-1 which were diluted by factors of 50, 20, andl00,
respectively. The Reporting Limits were adjusted by these factors.
Surrogate Spike Recovery
All samples and control samples were spiked with Decafluorobiphenyl prior to analysis.
The surrogate percent recoveries were within the control limit range of the 40-160 %
which indicated that compounds of interest were retained during the analysis procedure
for all samples.
Matrix Spike/Matrix Spike Duplicate
The MS/MSDs were analyzed with the samples in the batch. The Laboratory QC
indicated the MS and MSD %recoveries and the RPDs %recoveries were within the
control limits.
Laboratory Control Sample
The percent recoveries of Laboratory Control Sample for all compounds were within the
control limits as stated by Calscience. All LCS samples were analyzed with the same
batches of the samples. No concentrations of the compounds were indicated. The
percent recoveries were tabulated with the relative standard deviations.
Duplicate Samples
One sample was collected twice to determine the consistency of sampling.
Compound Sample# Result Dup.
