Box 2009
Stockton, CA 95201
Subject: Addendum to the "Workplan for Site Investigation", Wheel Country,
474 West Grant Line Road, Tracy, California
Site Code: 2108
Ms. Meays:
Smith Environmental Technologies Corporation is submitting this addendum to the "Workplan for
Site Investigation" in response to your comments in the June 14, 1995 correspondence regarding
'the workplan for the subject site. In accordance with additional information supplied by the
client, Eraclis Tsirelas, Smith Environmental revised the site plan to show the former waste oil
underground storage tank (UST)located near the southwest corner of the building on-site and the
former gasoline USTs located further to the south than located in the original workplan (Figure
2). In addition, the bottom of the former waste oil tank was, reportedly, at 7 feet below ground
surface(bgs).
In order to investigate soil and groundwater in the vicinity and downgradient of the locations of
the former gasoline USTs and the former waste oil UST, three soil borings will be advanced to
depths of approximately 25 to 30 feet bgs, and one boring will be completed to 9 feet bgs.
Drilling will be-conducted using 8-inch O.D. hollow stem augers. Locations of proposed borings
_ Rare
shown,oh-Figure-2, °Twodeep=bormgs will-be-located,in the-assumed downgradient"direction
(northeast) of the former gasoline and waste oil UST locations, and one deep.boring will be
located in the assumed upgradient direction of the former UST locations. In addition, one
shallow boring will be completed to 9 feet bgs (approximately 2 feet below the bottom of the
former waste oil tank) in the downgradient direction from the former waste oil UST location.
Soil samples will be collected at five foot intervals, and up to two soil samples from each boring
will be submitted to a state-certified laboratory for analysis. The soil samples from the three.deep
borings willbe analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg), benzene, toluene,
ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX), and total lead. The soil samples from the shallow 'boring
will be analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as motor oil (TPHmo), and total lead.
