4.0 LABORATORY ANALYSES
Soil samples collected at the site were sent to Clayton Environmental Consultants (Clayton), a
State of California-certified laboratory, in Pleasanton, California. Samples were shipped to
Clayton on ice and under proper chain of custody. Three soil samples were submitted for chemical
analysis of total petroleum hydrocarbons - gasoline range (TPH-G 801518020); total petroleum
hydrocarbons - diesel range (TPH-D 8015); benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene (BTEX
801518020); chlorinated hydrocarbons (CL-HC 8010); cadmium, chromium, lead, nickel and zinc
(ICAP METALS 6010A); and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB 8080). Laboratory analytical
results and chain of custody records are included as Appendix D. Table 4-1 is a summary of the
soil sample analytical data for organic compounds obtained from the 1'boratory analysis of the
samples collected from the excavated area. Table 4-2 is a summary of the analytical data for
inorganic compounds obtained from the laboratory analysis of the samples collected from the
excavated area.
TABLE 4-1
LABORATORY ANALYTICAL RESULTS, ORGANIC COMPOUNDS
Sample TPH-G TPH-D Benzene Toluene Ethyl- Xylene C1, PCB
Identification benzene HC
Tank Pit Bot W 12 <2000 ND ND 0.12 0.62 ND ND
Sample #1 (MDL: 2000)
9' depth
Tank Pit NE Corner 16 <3000 ND ND 0.22 1.08 ND ND
Sample#2 (MDL: 3000)
9' depth
Stockpile - 1,2 ND <200 ND ND ND ND ND ND
rn i (MDL: 200)
All results reported in parts per million.
ND = none detected
MDL = method detection limit
TABLE 4-2
LABORATORY ANALYTICAL RESULTS, INORGANIC COMPOUNDS
Sample Identification cadmium chromium lead nickel zinc
Tank Pit Bot W. - 1 @ 9' depth <0.4(MDL: 0.4) 30 4 33 56
Tank Pit NE Comer-2 @ 9' depth <0.4(MDL: 0.4) 27 4 28 80
Stockpile - 1.2 CQ=Q5ae <0.4 DL 4 4 32
*All results reported in parts per million.
ND = none detected
MDL = method detection limit
WAL.-MART 92025
98I82304.236 4-1 TRACY,CALMORNIA
