Clayton
1.
• Toluene
This material is a flammable, colorless liquid and has.-
-
as:- Maximum concentration in the soil = 0.050 ppm
- Flash point = X10°F
- TLV in the air = 100 ppm
- STEL = 150 ppm
- OSHA PEL (8-hour TWA) = 100 ppm
- OSHA STEL = 150 ppm
• Xylene
This clear liquid has:
- Maximum concentration in the soil = 0.73 ppm
- Flash point = 100°F
- TLV in the air = 100 ppm
OSHA PEL (8-hour TWA) = 100 ppm
- OSHA STEL = 150 ppm
6? PHYSICAL HAZARDS
The main physical hazards of deep excavations and soil aeration result from the
following:
• Dangers presented by heavy equipment
• Failure to maintain clearance for rotating excavators and backhoe
• Working around excavated holes
• Dust emission ingestion and inhalation
Because we anticipate the final depth of the excavation to be between 8 and 11
feet, the excavation sidewalls will be sloped on a 1:1 ratio, thereby eliminating the
risk of sidewall collapse and the danger of falling into the hole. If the excavation
hole is.to be entered; safety procedures for working in confined spaces will be
strictly enforced..
7.0 REQUIRED PROTECTION
..........
At a minimum, Level D of protection will be applied in the work zone. That is,
fieldpersonnel and visitors are required to wear the following clothing and
equipment:
•
Hard hat -
Safety glasses
Safety shoes
Gloves
Hearing protection .
4_
:y5)LOLiLEA
