Clayton
EV4uS)VNeE`TAL
COSI,LIVI♦
4r former UST, from USTs upgradient of the subject site, and from the possible previous
{ - use of pesticides onsite. The soil and groundwater samples were analyzed by the
f following methods:
EPA Methot1503Q18015-8020, for gasoline luel and the volatile hydrocarbons
benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene
 dMe r
SPA Method 41$.1 for total recoverable petroleum hydrocarbons (TFtPH)
ti y i J EPA Methods 8080 (soil) and 608 (water) for organochlonne
py pesticides/polychlonnated biphenyls (PCBs)
A'✓3 i
3.2 SOII. SAMPLE ANALYTICAL,RESULTS
pM; falb' 1` t Results of the laboratory analyses of the soil samples are summarized in Table 2 We
compared soil sample results for TRPH to concentrations in the RWQCB's
Recommendattons for the Evaluation and Invesugadron of USTs Table 2 reports only
detected compounds. All other compounds for which analyses were conducted were
Sir s 4 below analytical detection hmits. Notable compounds detected are discussed below
} a , ate y • Concentrations of gasolene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene to soil samples from
yf the borehole for well MW-3, next to the old gasoline tank, exceeded LU
guidelines.
The concentration ofa TRPH was 250 ppm in a soil sample from MW-3. Although
- - x regiilatiacton levels are not set for TRPH specifically, when oil and grease
n.i
concentrations-exceed 400 parts per million (Ppm) the`RWQCB requires a
soil/groundvrater investigation. The RWQCB developed the 100 ppm level to help
s u
prioritize'c'`ases;-notras¢g cleanup level. The level of cleanup is determined by
assessing',the potential°for soil contamination to impact groundwater.
a
4 3.3 GROUNDWATER ANALYTICAL RESULTS
E 5k s
z F { '. Table 3 summarizes analytical results and compares our findings to regulatory levels.
Table 3 repo'r`ts only detected compounds. All other compounds for which analyses
were candiicted were below analytical detection limits Notable compounds detected
y are discussed below.
r ' • Groundwater samples, from MW-3 showed low levels of gasoline, ethylbenzene, and
ityleiie. Theethylbenzene and xylene are below California DHS action levels The
concentration afgasoline in MW-3 was very low. Action levels are not defined for
gasoline in groundwater.
17--;
4.0 EXCAYATION AND SOIL AERAnQN
6 Az
Based on the results of analysis of soil samples from the borehole for well MW-3,
Clayton recommended excavating and aerating the soil in and around the location of
the removed gasoline :ank. Clayton was retained by Interland to supervise the
qa; excavation and aeration of petroleum hydrocarbon-contaminated soil in the vicinity of
MW-3 (Clayton Project No. 29531.00)
r f,
