t w
'r k
.l
continued until the water was relatively clear. Well development purge
water was contained in sealed and labeled 55-gallon steel drums and left
on-site for temporary storage until off-site disposal could be arranged.
No free-floating hydrocarbons or sheen were present on the surface of
groundwater during well development. }
5 .5 Monitoring Well, Sampling
On August 24, 2001, ASE associate .geologist Erik Paddleford collected
groundwater samples from monitoring well MW-6 for analysis. No
free-floating hydrocarbons or sheen were present on the surface of
groundwater in the monitoring well. Prior to sampling, the well was
purged of four well casing volumes of .groundwater. The pH, temperature,
and conductivity of the purge water were monitored during evacuation,
and samples were not collected until these parameters stabilized.
Groundwater samples were removed
p from the monitoring well with a
factory-cleaned, unusedpolyethylene bailer. The
Y groundwater samples
were contained in 40-m1 ;volatile organic analysis (VOA) vials, preserved
with hydrochloric acid, and sealed without headspace. The samples were
then labeled and stored with ice for transport to Kiff -tinder chain of
custody. Well sampling purge water was . contained in sealed and labeled
55-gallon steel drums and left on-site for temporary storage until off-site
disposal could be arranged. The well sampling field Iog for MW-6 is
presented in Appendix E. ;
E
5 .6 Soil Sample Analysis
The soil sample collected from 'between 5.0 and 6.5-feet bas in boring
MW-6 was analyzed by Kiff for- TPH-G, BTEX, and the fuel oxygenates
MTBE, TBA, TAME, DIPE and ETBE by EPA Method 8260. The analytical
results are tabulated in Table Two. The certified analytical report and
chain of custody are presented in Appendix F.
The soil sample contained 41.0 ppm TPH-G, 0.19 ppm benzene, and 0. 20
ppm ethylbenzene. No other compounds were detected above laboratory
reporting limits.
574'West Grant Line Road CAP — January 2002
-7-
