r t
i
5 .7 Groundwatta Sample Analysis
The groundwater sample collected from monitoring well MW-6 was
analyzed by Kiff for TPH-G, BTEX, and the fuel oxygenates MTBE, TBA,
TAME, DIPE and ETBE by EPA Method 8260. Analytical results are tabulated
in Table Three. The laboratory analytical report and chain of custody
documents are presented in Appendix G.
The groundwater sample collected from monitoring well MW-6 contained
67 ppb TPH-G and 1.4 ppb MTBE. No other compounds were detected
above laboratory reporting limits.
i
6 . 0 INSTALLATION OF EXTRACTION AND AIR SPARGE WELLS
6- 1 Drilling Permits
Prior to drilling, ASE obtained a drilling
Permit from the San Joaquin
County PHS-EHD (Appendix Q. ASE also notified USA to have
underground public utilities in the vicinity of the site marked prior t o
drilling.
4 6"2 Groundwater Extraction Well 1nS gelation
I ASE installed extraction well EW-1 to provide a large diameter well to
conduct a pumping test. Details of the well construction are presented
below.
6. 2. 1 Drill a Boring for the Installation -of a -Groundwater Extraction Well
On August 15, 2001 , Gregg Drilling of Martinez. California drilled boring
I EW-1 at the site using a, Mobile 13-61 drill rig equipped with 12-inch
diameter hollow-stem augers (Figure 4). Groundwater extraction well
EW-] Nvas subsequently constructed . in this borj112. The drilling, Was
directed by ASE associate geologist Erik Paddleford.
Undisturbed soil samples were collected every 5-feet as drilling
progressed for lithologic and hydrogeologic description„ and for possible
chemical analysis. The samples were collected by driving a split-barrel
sampler lined with 6-inch diameter brass tubes usinC7 repeated blows from
a 140-lb haninler dropped 30-inches. Selective soil samples were
immediately trimmed, sealed with Teflon tape and plastic end caps,
labeled, and stored on ice for transport to Kiff tender chain of custody.
Soil from the remaining tubes was described by the site geologist using
574 West Grant line Road CAP — January 2002
" -8-
