Joe Lentini - 3 - 29 September 2009
portion of the pipeline near the water supply wells has not been removed or investigated for
potential releases. In a letter dated 15 July 2008, staff provided Shell the option to sample
these wells or explain why any of the wells need not be tested. The last extended deadline for
this task was 15 June 2009. To date, a reason for not testing the wells has not been provided.
Therefore, Central Valley Water Board staff is directing Shell to sample these wells for the
constituents of concern. If Shell does not sample these wells by 30 November 2009, Central
Valley Water Board staff may conduct the required sampling at Shell's expense.
The monitoring well installation and RA work plans are due in accordance with the proposed
schedule. The field schedule for the water supply well sampling must be coordinated with
Central Valley Water Board staff.
