(Clayton) on behalf of Shell Oil Products Company(Shell) for the former
Shell Central Valley Crude Oil Pipeline (Pipeline) near the intersection of Hansen and Schulte Roads in
Tracy(site). Since the December 2003 letter, Regional Board staff has maintained communication with
Mr. Michael Hurd of Clayton regarding the status of the investigation work at the site, and we are aware
of the work by Shell to compare the chromatograms of the samples collected at the site to
chromatograms of samples collected from the oil fields where the crude previously transported in the
Pipeline originated. However, Regional Board staff has not received correspondence from Shell
regarding this work or a schedule for upcoming events.
Therefore, by 23 December 2004, please submit a summary of the work conducted on behalf of Shell
for the site since the December 2003 letter, any results of studies performed, and a schedule for
upcoming activities at the site, including the investigation report requested in the 31 December 2003
letter.
Regional Board staff in the Spills, Leaks, Investigations, and Cleanup (SLIC)Program are currently
working to include and update SLIC sites in Geotracker. Geotracker is a geographic information system
that provides online access to environmental data. Although Geotracker has been available to the public
for underground storage tank (UST) sites, it is just now including SLIC sites. As of 1 January 2005,
SLIC sites will be required to submit data electronically, as is currently required for UST sites.
Therefore, we request that Shell review all of its SLIC sites in Geotracker and provide any corrections or
updates to the information. The website address for Geotracker is currently
www.geotracker.swrcb.ca.gov, but this will eventually change to www.geotracker.waterboards.ca.gov.
