2.2 HEALTH AND SAFETY PLAN(HASP)
CRA will prepare a HASP to protect site workers. The plan will be kept on site during
field activities and will be reviewed and signed by each site worker.
2.3 UTILITY CLEARANCE
CRA will mark the proposed drilling locations, and the locations will be cleared through
Underground Service Alert and a private line locator service prior to drilling.
Additionally, the first 5 feet of each boring will be cleared using an air-knife to minimize
potential damage to underground structures not identified through prior utility locating
activities.
CRA reviewed Shell Oil Company as-built drawings that show the former pipelines
consisted of one 8-inch line and one 10-inch line (Appendix A). The lines were spaced
approximately 3 feet apart. The drawings indicate that both pipelines were removed in
Section 26. The 8-inch line was removed in Section 22, however, the 10-inch line was
abandoned in place. Prior to drilling, the line locator service will be used to verify the
location of the 10-inch line.
2A SURVEY OF FORMER PIPELINE RIGHT-OF--WAY
Prior to drilling,a licensed surveyor will survey the former pipeline ROW location and
the proposed borehole locations. After drilling, the surveyor will survey the locations of
any additional borings advanced during the drilling phase.
2.5 SUBSURFACE INVESTIGATION
In the absence of subsurface utility conflicts, 22 soil borings will be drilled and sampled
at the locations shown on Figure 3. The borings will be located approximately midway
between the two pipelines (or former pipeline locations) and spaced on 300 ft intervals.
The borings will be drilled using track-mounted direct push and/or hollow-stem auger
drilling equipment.
The proposed investigation will assess subsurface conditions beneath the former
pipeline ROW where future construction activities are planned.
