r
June 15, 2010 Residential Well Monitoring (CRA): Five domestic water wells located
northwest of the site were sampled to determine if petroleum hydrocarbons are present
in the wells. The findings of this monitoring event and the sampling procedures
followed are detailed in the July 30, 2010 Residential Well Monitoring Report. No
petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in the samples collected from all five domestic
water wells. The two wells closed to the former pipelines were placed on an annual
sampling schedule. No petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in the samples collected
from the two domestic water wells to date(May 2013).
July 12, 2010 to September2, 2010. Thirteen groundwater monitoring wells were
installed at the site to assess groundwater quality, gradient and flow direction in the
vicinity of the former crude oil pipeline. The wells installed were MW-1 through MW-4,
MW-5A, MW-5B,MW-5C,and MW-6 through MW-11. The wells monitor groundwater
three zones; 30 to 50 ft bgs (Zone A), 105 to 125 ft bgs (Zone B), and 160 to 177 ft bgs
(Zone C). The findings of this investigation and the sampling procedures followed are
detailed in the October 15,2010 Site Investigation Report.
May through July 2011: Twenty soil borings were advanced to assess soil conditions
beneath areas 7, 8, and 9. TPHc impacts in soil were detected in some soil samples
collected from each area. Six groundwater monitoring wells, MW-12, MW-13B, MW-
13C, MW-14B, MW-14C, and MW-15 were installed to assess groundwater quality,
gradient, and flow direction. Based on the third quarter 2011 monitoring event, TPHc
impacts in groundwater were observed in Zone A wells MW-2, MW-5A, and MW-15.
TPHc impacts in groundwater were observed in Zone B well MW-13B. No TPHc
impacts were observed in Zone C wells. Three nested soil vapor wells were installed to
assess soil vapor impacts. Soil vapor samples contained a limited number of VOC and
SVOC constituents at varying concentrations.
November 2011: During this investigation, phase exploratory borings were drilled along
the former pipeline alignment. A total of 29 exploratory borings were drilled (B-96
through B-104, B-104A, B-104B, B-105 through B-109, B-109A, B-110 through B-113,
B-113A, B-113B, B-114, B-115, B-115A, B-115B, B-116, and B-117). The findings of this
investigation and the sampling procedures followed are detailed in the May 13, 2013
Subsurface Investigation Report and Updated Site Conceptual Model. This report also
presents the finding of a human health risk assessment (HHRA) and ecological risk
assessment(ERA)
060223(33) A-4 CONESTOGA-ROVERS&ASSOCIATES
