PHS/EHD has a contract with California State
Water Resources Control Board to conduct an underground storage tank corrective action
program. The above referenced site was placed in the PHS/EHD Local Oversight Program (LOP)
in March 1987.
PHS/EHD has completed review of the Fourth Quarter 1997 Report prepared by Ground Zero
Analysis, Inc. Depth to groundwater and groundwater gradient is very similar to the previous
three monitoring events in 1997. Gasoline contaminant concentrations continue to decline in on
site monitoring wells (MWs) and the off site, down gradient MW remains below detection limits.
The on site MW5 which has evidenced the highest gasoline concentrations throughout the site
remediation and investigation, appears to be localized but not fully defined. Additional soil and
groundwater data in the area of MW5 will be required to further delineate the lateral and vertical
extent of contamination.
Please submit a work plan and a permit application by May 1,1998 to further characterize this
area of concern.
If you have any further question regarding this matter, contact Harlin Knoll at (209) 468-3442.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Harlin Knoll, Senior REHS jargaret Lagorio, REHS
Site Mitigation Unit Supervisor
cc: RWQCB, Central Valley Region - Pat Anderson
knowles
A Division of San Joaquin Counry Health Care Services
